Marina Virdone can’t imagine not being a school teacher. She says next to taking care of her own children, teaching is her second greatest love. But, three years ago, life as Marina knew it was about to change. Marina had developed a severe eye infection that eventually turned into glaucoma.

“I said, my God, I’m young and I have children. I can’t afford to go blind,” says Marina Virdone.

CONGENITAL GLAUCOMA

Congenital glaucoma is an eye disease where the normal eye pressure is affected by the buildup of fluid in the eye.
You might say that 3 year old Juan Navarro is a little ham. Smiling and posing for the camera, he looks like your typical playful toddler. But when he was just an infant his mother Carmen noticed that his eyes did not look right. “There was a lot of white in his eyes,” recalls Carmen.
