1. What is Swine Flu?
Swine Flu is a contagious respiratory disease that affects pigs.  Swine flu doesn’t often affect humans.  People who have been infected with swine flu in the past have been those who have direct contact with the pigs.  But the on going swine flu is different and is affecting even those who do not have direct contact with pigs.  What is dangerous about it this time is that it is highly contagious among humans and has been the reason for several deaths in Mexico.
 
2. How does swine flu spread?
Swine flu is an air borne disease and the virus can be transmitted through air when the infected person coughs or sneezes. You could also pick up swine flu by touching an object that swine flu infected person has recently touched, and then touching your eyes, nose or mouth, thus transmitting germs through contact.  (Read more about Swine Flu FAQ)
