DAILY VIAGRA

It might sound a little strange to you, but is Viagra be a pill men should take on a regular basis? There is a growing body of evidence that suggests that this might be the case, and that drugs like Viagra may have the potential to act as an impotence cure.

Researchers are calling it a men’s health pill. The reason: it can improve circulation, and maybe even cure impotence when taken on a regular basis.

50 percent of men over the age of 50 will have prostate problems. And cardiovascular problems occur in nearly half--47 percent, to be exact--of men older than thirty.

The inability of blood vessels to function correctly--the problem is called endothelial dysfunction--is a key player to cardiovascular disease, and to impotence as well. The study just released shows medicines like Viagra, including Levitra and Cialis, act to keep the blood vessels throughout the body--from the heart to the prostate--functioning better, and may thus act as effective impotence cures. The findings also imply that blood flow plays a role in sexual function, and helps maintain it.

Dr. Natan Bar-Chama, an urologist at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, says, “This is an exciting study-- it suggests that the class of drugs called PED5 inhibitors and in this study specifically Levitra, has benefit beyond sexual function for men. We are really only beginning to appreciate how much sexual health or erectile function in men is associated with cardiovascular disease.”

Dr. Bar-Chama doesn’t believe they’re ready for primetime regular use yet, “But certainly the comfort level and the usage of these drugs in this population are encouraging signs beyond the impact it has on sexual function. This study contributes to the emerging body of literature that associates erectile dysfunction with endothelial dysfunction, and shows that sexual function is a barometer and indicator of overall cardiovascular health.”

This is not the first study to suggest that a medication in this class when used regularly could maintain potency. In fact a study last year showed that daily use of Viagra could actually reverse impotence in men because of increased blood flow to the genital area.

German research showed this benefit in 58 percent of men who used the drug nightly, compared to just about ten percent who used it only when having sex. This implies these drugs are perhaps not just a band aid to impotence, but rather a true impotence cure.

“This appears to be a class of drugs that has benefit beyond what we thought,” Dr. Bar-Chama states.

The researchers also reported research indicating that vigorous bicycle riding leads to impotence and erectile dysfunction in a significant percentage of men, and a Viagra and other sildenafil-based drug taken thirty minutes to an hour before a bicycle run leads to significant increase in blood flow and helps alleviate those conditions.
